The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 packs twenty-six 3.5-inch bays into a 2U rack frame, delivering over one hundred terabytes of raw SATA capacity. Dual Xeon Gold 6154 processors supply thirty-six cores at 3.0 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo for parallel workloads. Two hundred fifty-six gigabytes of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory support data-integrity requirements.

Hot-swap drive access and redundant power

Twenty-six front-accessible trays allow drive replacement without shutting down the chassis. The PERC HBA330 controller presents the drives to the operating system in JBOD or pass-through mode for software-defined storage stacks. Dual 1100 W platinum power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails.

Remote management and high-speed networking included

iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides out-of-band console, power control and firmware updates over a dedicated network port. A Broadcom 57414 dual-port 10/25 Gb SFP28 OCP 2.0 mezzanine card adds low-latency connectivity for clustered storage or backup targets. The front bezel and sliding rails are not supplied and must be sourced separately.
