Dual Xeon Platinum 8468 48-Core Server

The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8468 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.8 GHz turbo frequency and 48 cores per socket. It ships with 128 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory across eight DIMMs and a PERC H965i RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays, a Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network card, iDRAC9 Datacenter remote management and dual 1400 W platinum power supplies complete the configuration.

Compatibility Check Before Ordering

The server uses LGA 4677 sockets and supports a maximum of two processors, both already populated, so no further CPU upgrades are possible. Memory expansion is limited to 32 DDR5 slots with an 8 TB ceiling; the installed 128 GB occupies eight of those slots. Storage bays accept SAS, SATA and NVMe drives, but no drives are included, so you must supply your own. The OCP 3.0 networking slot is occupied by the quad-port 1 GbE adapter, leaving no room for an additional OCP card without removing it.

Sustained-Load Behaviour

Dual 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power for continuous operation under full CPU and memory load. The PERC H965i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with its 8 GB non-volatile cache to maintain write performance during extended I/O bursts. iDRAC9 Datacenter enables remote monitoring of thermal metrics, power draw and system health without host OS involvement. The 2U chassis airflow design is built for sustained enterprise workloads such as virtualization, databases and HPC clusters.
