Dual Xeon Gold 5120 14-core server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a new 5U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 5120 processors. Each CPU provides 14 cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across four modules. It targets organisations that run virtualisation, databases, or file services on-premises.

H730P storage controller and hot-swap bays

A Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through for SAS and SATA drives. The chassis includes eight 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays ready for additional disks. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express handle network and remote management.

Sustained load with redundant power

Under continuous workloads the twin 14-core CPUs maintain clock speeds within their thermal envelope while ECC memory corrects single-bit errors silently. The H730P battery-backed cache preserves write performance during extended write streams. Redundant power supplies and hot-swap drive bays allow component replacement without shutting down the server.
