A 5U tower server with dual Xeon Silver 4110 processors, 16GB DDR4 memory, a PERC HBA330 controller and sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server that can be converted for rack mounting. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency and eight cores. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory are installed across two modules. The system targets virtualization, database hosting, and software-defined storage workloads.
Verify that your rack or floor space accommodates a 5U chassis and that the 750 W platinum power supplies match your PDU connectors and voltage. The PERC HBA330 controller presents 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity, so drives must use those interfaces. Sixteen DIMM slots are available, with a 1 TB maximum capacity using DDR4 ECC registered modules. Front bezel and ready rails are not included, so plan for separate mounting hardware.
The chassis provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays, though only eight drive trays are included; additional trays are required to populate every bay. Dual embedded 1 GbE ports handle baseline networking, while PCI Express slots remain open for RAID cards, extra NICs, or GPU accelerators. iDRAC 9 Express delivers out-of-band remote management without consuming a PCIe slot. Redundant hot-swap power supplies free up uptime risk by allowing module replacement under load.
