The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 occupies 2U of rack space and ships with dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots, leaving room for expansion up to the platform maximum. The Smart HBA H240ar controller provides hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across twelve 3.5-inch large-form-factor drive bays. Twin 500 W hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power. No operating system is included.

Check power, rack depth and drive supply

Verify that your rack can accept a 2U chassis and that the available PDU outlets match the twin 500 W supplies. The twelve front bays ship empty with trays and screws only, so source compatible 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives before deployment. Memory upgrades must use DDR4 ECC registered modules at speeds supported by the v3 processors; the installed 8 GB uses only a fraction of the 24 slots. Confirm the H240ar controller meets your RAID-level requirements and that no optical drive is needed, as the 12-bay LFF model omits an optical bay entirely.

Bundled trays and redundant power simplify

Twelve drive trays with screws are included, eliminating a separate caddy purchase for the front bays. The second 500 W supply enables N+N redundancy without extra ordering. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics chip with 16 MB video memory provides basic console output only. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are all available from the H240ar, so no additional licence key is required for those levels. The absence of an optical drive and an operating system means you must prepare installation media and licences separately.
