Dual-processor 2U rack server

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. The chassis uses tool-less sliding rails for standard rack mounting. Memory upgrades must use DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 2400 MT/s and are limited to 12 slots per processor. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics output is intended for management consoles only.

The installed 32 GB fills the practical limit for the dual E5-2609 v3 configuration, so further expansion needs faster processors to unlock the 24 DIMM slots and higher capacities. Two 1 TB SAS drives give 2 TB raw capacity; RAID 1 yields 1 TB usable, RAID 5 or 6 adds parity overhead. Eight total bays allow growth to 16 or 24 bays with optional cages, but the current controller and CPU pair do not support NVMe drives in bay 2. Buyers needing more than 32 GB RAM or NVMe performance should look elsewhere.
