This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz and 16GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across 24 DIMM slots. It targets organisations that need a dense, expandable platform for virtualisation, database or file workloads in a standard rack footprint. The chassis provides 16 small-form-factor drive bays and supports a second processor for up to 12 total cores.

Thermals, noise and power draw

Dual 500W hot-swap redundant power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails. The Gen9 thermal design uses variable-speed fans that ramp with inlet temperature and processor utilisation, so acoustic output rises only under sustained heavy compute. Typical idle draw sits well below the supply rating, leaving headroom for additional drives, memory or a second CPU.

Build integration and expansion

The Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB flash-backed write cache manages the two installed 1TB 7.2K SAS drives and supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 across all 16 bays. An optional universal media bay or an extra eight-bay cage can extend capacity to 24 drives without leaving the 2U envelope. Memory scales to 3TB using DDR4 modules up to 2400MT/s, and the Matrox G200eH2 graphics handle remote console via iLO without consuming a PCIe slot.
