Dual-socket EPYC server for virtualised workloads

This 2U rack server ships with two EPYC 7302 processors, each delivering 16 cores at 3.0 GHz with a 3.3 GHz boost. The 256 GB of DDR4 registered memory is arranged as eight 32 GB modules running at 2933 MHz. Eight 1.92 TB SATA SSDs provide 15.36 TB of raw capacity behind an HP Smart Array P408i-a controller with 2 GB flash-backed write cache. The bundle includes a rail kit and a Windows Server 2019 Standard licence.

Assembly required for drives and memory

Hard drives and memory modules are packaged separately and must be installed before first use. The 2.5-inch drive bays and DIMM slots are accessible from the front and top of the chassis respectively, so installation follows standard rack-server procedures. The integrated iLO 5 remote-management module is operational once power is applied, allowing BIOS configuration and OS deployment without a local console. Redundant 800 W power supplies are pre-fitted.

256 GB memory ceiling and eight-bay storage limit

The 256 GB configuration suits moderate virtualisation, database and container workloads that fit within the installed DIMM count. Storage headroom is defined by the eight 2.5-inch bays; the current 15.36 TB array uses every bay, so expansion requires replacing drives with higher-capacity models. Compute headroom remains at the dual 16-core level; workloads demanding more threads or memory channels would need a different platform.
