Socket LGA 1151 Z390 ATX board

The MSI Z390-A PRO is an ATX motherboard built on the Intel Z390 chipset for 8th generation Core i7, i5 and i3 processors in the LGA 1151 socket. It provides four 288-pin DDR4 slots supporting dual-channel memory up to 128 GB. Two PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and four PCIe 3.0 x1 slots handle expansion cards.

Extended heatsink and Steel Armour slots

A larger PWM heatsink improves thermal headroom for sustained processor boost clocks. Steel Armour reinforcement on the primary PCI Express x16 slots protects the board from heavy graphics cards. The rear I/O includes USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A and Type-C ports driven by the Intel controller, plus USB 3.1 Gen1, USB 2.0, PS/2, DVI-D, VGA, DisplayPort and Intel LAN.

One M.2 slot with shared SATA lane

A single M.2 Key M slot accepts 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 devices running at PCIe 3.0 x4 or SATA 6Gb/s. Installing a SATA M.2 drive disables the second SATA 6Gb/s port. Six SATA 6Gb/s ports support RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, and the board is Intel Optane ready after a BIOS update.
