The Netgear GS108T-300NAS is an 8-port Gigabit smart switch designed for small and medium businesses that need managed Layer 3 Lite features without the complexity of a full rack-mounted appliance. It supports 64 VLANs, QoS prioritisation and SNMP monitoring, making it suitable for converged data, voice and video traffic in office or edge deployments.

Compact desktop design with PoE input

The non-rack-mountable metal enclosure measures 6.20 by 4.00 by 1.10 inches and weighs .94 lb, so it sits on a desk or shelf and can be mounted in tight spaces. Eight RJ45 ports auto-negotiate at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps and support jumbo frames up to 10K. A single PD port accepts power from another PoE switch or injector, eliminating the need for the included 12V 1.0A external adapter when PoE infrastructure is already present.

Upgrade from unmanaged or basic smart switches

Moving up from an unmanaged switch adds per-port VLANs, L2/L3/L4 DSCP QoS, port mirroring and optional cloud management through Netgear Insight, which can be activated later without replacing hardware. The step is worthwhile when you need traffic segmentation for VoIP or guest networks, remote monitoring across multiple sites, or the ability to power the switch itself via PoE. It does not suit buyers who require high-density rack mounting, 10 Gigabit uplinks or PoE output to power cameras and access points.
