Quiet 120mm PWM case fan

The Noctua NF-S12A PWM is a 120mm square, 25mm thick case fan designed for silent operation in desktop PCs. It uses a 4-pin PWM connector for automatic speed control and runs at a maximum of 1200 RPM with a noise level of 17.8 dB(A). The brown coloured fan includes anti-vibration pads and a Low-Noise Adaptor for quieter running.

Upgrade from louder or smaller fans

This model replaces older 120mm fans that lack PWM control or produce higher noise at similar airflow. The jump is worth it when building a quiet workstation or silencing an existing chassis where the fan will run continuously at low speeds. It is not suited for builds that require high static pressure for dense radiator fins or restrictive mesh panels.

Airflow capacity and limits

At full speed the fan delivers 107.5 m3/h of airflow, dropping to 83.2 m3/h with the Low-Noise Adaptor limiting speed to 900 RPM. The PWM range extends down to 300 RPM for near-silent idle. The SSO2 bearing is rated for over 150000 hours MTTF. It will not match the static pressure of dedicated radiator fans in high-restriction liquid cooling loops.
