SilverStone RM400 4U server chassis

The SilverStone RM400 is a 4U rack-mount chassis built for SSI-CEB, ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. It provides eight 3.5-inch internal drive bays, two 2.5-inch bays and three external 5.25-inch bays for high-density storage. Seven full-height expansion slots support standard-profile add-in cards. A lockable front door secures drive access in shared environments.

Tool-free drive trays

The chassis ships with one 120mm front fan and one 80mm rear fan; an additional 80mm front fan or a 120mm alternative can be fitted. Drive cages use tool-free trays for quick 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch installation. The front door hinge allows full opening for component access. Cable routing space behind the motherboard tray is limited, so plan power and data runs before securing drives.

Verify power supply depth

The rear-mounted PSU bay accepts ATX, PS2 or mini-redundant units up to 160mm deep. CPU coolers must not exceed 130mm in height. Graphics cards up to 220mm long fit with drives installed; removing the 3.5-inch cage extends support to 339mm length, though card width remains limited to 106mm. Rail slides for rack mounting are sold separately.
