The Synology DS1621+ is a diskless 6-bay desktop NAS built around an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core 2.2 GHz processor with 4GB DDR4 installed. It targets small businesses and advanced home users who need centralised file storage, backup and collaboration services with room to scale. Two DDR4 SODIMM slots support up to 32GB total memory for heavier workloads.

108 TB raw capacity with M.2 cache headroom

Six SATA drive bays accept 3.5" HDDs, 2.5" HDDs, 2.5" SSDs and M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs, reaching a maximum raw capacity of 108 TB. Dual M.2 2280 slots add NVMe read/write caching to accelerate HDD arrays. Storage can grow further to 16 drives by attaching two DX517 expansion units when the six internal bays are full.

Four 1GbE ports and versatile I/O

Four RJ-45 10/100/1000M ports enable link aggregation or separate network segments without extra cards. Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two eSATA ports connect external drives or backup targets directly. A 250 W internal supply runs on 100–240 V AC, drawing 51.22 W during access and 25.27 W in hibernation, while the chassis operates from 0 °C to 40 °C.
