This WRIARICH E02 adapter connects 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA or IDE hard drives and optical drives to a USB 3.0 port. It supports SATA drives up to 10 TB and allows three drives to operate simultaneously. The package includes the adapter cable, a 12V 2A power adapter, and a 4-pin power cable for 3.5 inch IDE drives. It is suited for technicians and home users accessing legacy or current drives.

Plug-and-Play Installation with LED Status

No drivers are required for Windows XP through 10 or Mac OS. The adapter features an on/off switch for drive protection and an LED indicating power and activity. Automatic sleep mode activates after 30 minutes of inactivity. Hot swapping is supported. The 4-pin power cable must be attached for 3.5 inch IDE drives; omitting it is the most common reason a drive fails to spin up.

USB 3.0 Interface Limits Transfer Speed

The USB 3.0 connection provides a theoretical maximum of 5 Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Actual throughput depends on the drive's own speed and the host controller. SATA II drives will not saturate the link, while faster SATA drives are capped by the USB 3.0 bandwidth. IDE drives operate at their native slower rates.
