The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for dense compute environments. It ships with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 24 cores. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across four modules and a Dell PERC H330 storage controller.

Suited for virtualization hosts needing maximum

This configuration targets workloads that benefit from high core counts in a single half-height sled, such as virtualization clusters or private-cloud nodes. The installed memory of 32 GB is modest relative to the 1.5 TB maximum, so buyers planning large in-memory databases or heavy container densities will need to add DIMMs. The blade form factor also requires a compatible PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis, which is not included.
