The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for dense compute clusters. It ships with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors running at 2.1 GHz and 24 cores each, plus 64 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory.

Suits dense racks; not for standalone towers

This blade fits PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis and targets virtualisation, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads. Buyers who need a tower or rackmount server, or who require an operating system pre-installed, should look at a different form factor.

Dual 1.92 TB SATA SSDs on H330 controller

Storage is provided by two 1.92 TB SATA 6 Gb/s SSDs managed by a Dell PERC H330 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50. The installed drives set the baseline capacity; additional bays are not populated in this configuration.
