1U rack server for dense compute

The PowerEdge R430 fits a dual-socket Intel Xeon configuration into a single rack unit. Two E5-2603v3 six-core processors running at 1.6 GHz provide twelve total threads. Installed memory is 48 GB of DDR4 across twelve DIMM slots, reaching the processor-limited maximum of 48 GB. Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives for flexible storage density.

Thermals noise and redundant power

A single 550 W redundant hot-swap power supply feeds both CPUs and the drive cage. The 1U chassis uses high-speed system fans that ramp with inlet temperature, so acoustic output rises under sustained load. Typical idle draw sits well below the supply rating, leaving headroom for the three 15 K RPM SAS drives and the H730 RAID controller. Redundant supply design allows module replacement without downtime.

H730 RAID and iDRAC8 remote management

The H730 controller brings 1 GB cache and 12 Gbps SAS connectivity, supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the installed 300 GB drives. iDRAC8 Express provides out-of-band hardware monitoring, virtual console and lifecycle updates over a dedicated network port. Optional Enterprise licences add vFlash media and advanced analytics. A DVD-ROM and Matrox G200 video complete the base feature set.
