The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built for dense compute environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. The system includes a PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache managing three 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives in eight hot-plug 2.5-inch bays. Redundant 550 W power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management support continuous operation.

Upgrade from tower or older 2U systems

Moving from a tower workstation or an older 2U rack server to this 1U platform saves rack space while adding hot-plug drive bays and hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The jump is worth it when you need redundant power, lights-out management via iDRAC8 and the ability to add a second Xeon processor for up to 20 physical cores. The two PCIe 3.0 slots allow targeted I/O expansion without increasing chassis height.

Capacity and headroom for virtualisation and storage
