Ready-to-deploy 2U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R730 arrives as a complete 2U rack server with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3GHz. Forty-eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots. Two 300GB 15K SAS drives and a PERC H730 RAID controller with 1GB cache provide immediate storage redundancy. Dual 750W hot-swap power supplies and a DVD-ROM round out the configured chassis.

Single-socket ten-core Xeon foundation

The installed E5-2650 v3 delivers ten physical cores and twenty threads at 2.3GHz on the Intel C610 chipset. Only one processor is populated, leaving the second socket available for a matching Xeon to double core count and unlock the full 24 DIMM channels. Memory currently sits at 48GB against a 1536GB platform ceiling using DDR4 modules up to 2400MT/s. The PERC H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the SAS backplane.

Eight-bay hot-plug chassis with room to grow

Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives; two 300GB 15K SAS units ship installed and trays are included for any additional drives. Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot remain open for networking, GPU or HBA expansion. The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band management from day one. A four-port 1GbE daughter card handles baseline connectivity while optional 10GbE NDCs can be added later. No operating system is included.
