The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rackmount server system built for space-constrained environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor running at 2.3GHz and 16GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. Two 600GB 15K SAS drives and a Smart HBA H240ar controller provide immediate storage redundancy.

Upgrade from single-drive or tower systems

The jump is worth it when workloads outgrow a single drive bay or non-redundant power. Dual 500W hot-swap supplies remove a single point of failure. The H240ar controller adds hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, replacing software RAID overhead. A second processor socket supports up to 24 total cores for heavier parallel tasks.

Build integration: memory ceiling and bay limits

The board offers 24 DDR4 slots but the installed CPU caps usable capacity at 16GB; a second processor unlocks the full 3TB maximum. Four LFF 3.5-inch bays are populated by the two included drives, leaving two bays open for expansion. The Matrox G200 graphics handles console output only, freeing PCIe slots for additional controllers or networking cards.
