Dual-processor rack server for dense compute

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 occupies 2U of rack space and ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots, leaving room to grow. Two 146 GB 15K SAS drives connect through the H240ar controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for local redundancy.

Sustained workload behaviour with room to scale

The chassis accepts a second Xeon E5 v3 CPU, raising the core count toward the platform maximum of 36 total cores. Memory capacity can reach 3 TB when all 24 slots are populated with supported DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s. The eight small-form-factor bays allow additional SAS or SATA drives, and optional NVME bays can be added in specific slots for faster tiered storage. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies maintain operation during a single-unit failure.

Thermals and power under normal load

Redundant 500 W power supplies share the load and can be replaced without downtime. The 2U form factor uses directed airflow across the processors, memory and drive bays to keep temperatures stable during continuous operation. Acoustic output is typical for a rackmount server intended for data-centre aisles rather than office desks. No operating system is included, so power draw will vary with the chosen hypervisor or application stack.
