The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack system built for data-centre deployment. A single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processor provides twelve cores at 2.3 GHz with hyper-threading for twenty-four logical threads. Smart Array P440 controller

Storage is handled by an HP Smart Array P440 controller equipped with 4 GB of flash-backed write cache. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across a twelve-gigabit-per-second SAS interface. Two 600 GB 15 000 RPM 2.5-inch SAS drives are pre-installed in the sixteen-bay small-form-factor chassis. No solid-state drives or operating system are included.

Sustained throughput under heavy write loads

The 4 GB FBWC module preserves write data in non-volatile flash during power loss, allowing the controller to acknowledge writes without waiting for mechanical disks. This reduces latency spikes during prolonged database or virtual-machine workloads. The fifteen-thousand-RPM drives maintain consistent sequential transfer rates, while redundant power supplies prevent interruption if one unit fails. Buyers needing larger memory footprints or all-flash arrays must add DIMMs and drives separately.
