What this adapter does
The SMUGDESK 2-in-1 adapter converts a SATA M.2 NGFF or mSATA solid-state drive into external USB 3.0 storage. It supports B Key and B+M Key M.2 modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths as well as standard mSATA SSDs. The board works with Windows, Mac OS and Linux without driver installation.
Check your drive before ordering
This converter only recognises SATA protocol M.2 NGFF B Key and B+M Key SSDs. It cannot detect PCIe NVMe M.2 drives, so verify that your module uses the SATA interface. Confirm the physical keying and form factor match the supported 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 sizes before purchase.
Build and daily use
The optimised PCB layout provides low power consumption, stable signal transmission and improved heat resistance to prevent unexpected disconnection during extended sessions. A compact, lightweight structure makes the adapter easy to carry for data migration, drive reuse, file archiving and routine computer maintenance.

Domande su questo articolo
Does the adapter include cables or a power supply, or must they be purchased separately?
The board only provides the M.2 and mSATA slots plus a USB 3.0 connector; no cables or external power supply are included, so a standard USB 3.0 cable must be supplied by the user.
Which M.2 key types and lengths does this board accept?
It accepts SATA M.2 NGFF drives with B Key or B+M Key in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths; NVMe PCIe M.2 drives are not supported.
What real-world throughput can I expect from the USB 3.0 link when cloning a large SATA SSD?
The USB 3.0 interface caps the connection at 5 Gbps, so sustained clone speeds will be limited by that link rather than the drive's native SATA 6 Gbps capability.
