The ToughArmor MB118VP-B is a rugged six-bay enclosure that fits into any standard external 5.25" optical drive bay. It supports up to six U.2 or U.3 PCIe NVMe SSDs with a maximum drive height of 9.5 mm. Dual high-performance 40x20 mm cooling fans provide active airflow across all bays. EMI grounding protects installed SSDs from electrical damage.

Front-access drive trays for server maintenance

This unit suits administrators who need hot-swap access to NVMe storage without opening a server chassis. Removable trays make drive replacement fast and tool-free. Builds that lack a free 5.25" front bay or that rely on internal M.2 slots cannot use this enclosure. Systems without a compatible PCIe 4.0 controller and three SlimSAS 8i (SFF-8654) host connections will not achieve full performance.

PCIe 4.0 x4 per bay at 64 Gb/s

Each of the six drive bays delivers up to 64 Gb/s through a PCIe 4.0 x4 link. That bandwidth is the single figure that determines whether the enclosure matches your SSD and controller capabilities. If your host interface is limited to PCIe 3.0 x4 the drives will operate at half this throughput.
