The StarTech ST121R receives a VGA signal sent over standard Cat5 twisted-pair cable at distances up to 150 m. It is built for installers who need to place displays far from the source in classrooms, lobbies or server rooms. No drivers or software are required, so deployment is a simple hardware connection.

Included Mounting Brackets And Power Adapter

The box supplies a 9 V DC power adapter and metal brackets for surface mounting the aluminum enclosure. These items let technicians secure the receiver near the display and power it from a local mains outlet without sourcing extra parts. The unit draws 0.6 A from the supplied adapter.

Resolution Drops As Cable Length Increases

At 50 m the extender supports 1600x1200, at 100 m it supports 1280x1024, and at the full 150 m it supports 1024x768. Buyers who need higher resolutions at the maximum distance cannot meet that requirement with this standard. Daisy-chaining and audio transmission are also not supported.
