4 MP box camera with 3.9–10 mm varifocal lens, 113°–47° horizontal view, built-in wiper, PoE power and IEEE 802.1X security
The AXIS Q1656-LE is a new box-type network camera built around a 1/1.8” CMOS sensor that delivers up to 2688 x 1512 resolution at 16:9. It supports digital PTZ with preset positions and ships with a Pelco D driver pre-installed for pan/tilt integration. ONVIF compliance allows it to join mixed-vendor video management systems without proprietary lock-in. The varifocal 3.9–10 mm F1.5 lens covers a horizontal field of view from 113° down to 47°.
The camera draws up to 25.5 W via IEEE 802.3at Type 2 Class 4 Power over Ethernet, so the switch or injector must guarantee that budget on the chosen port. An alternative 10–28 VDC supply can be used where PoE is unavailable, with the same maximum draw. The housing measures 404 x 159 x 182 mm and weighs 4.4 kg, so the mounting surface and bracket must support that mass. Minimum focus distance is 0.5 m, so the scene must allow that working range.
Built-in cybersecurity includes IEEE 802.1X, MACsec, TLS 1.2/1.3 and a host-based firewall that remain active during continuous streaming. The integrated wiper clears rain or snow from the front glass without manual intervention, preserving image quality over long deployments. Power redundancy lets the unit stay online if one supply path fails. Deep-learning analytics run on the camera itself, keeping processor load steady rather than spiking only during motion events.
