Buffalo Technology
A two-bay desktop NAS with 8TB of included storage, a hexa-core 1.3GHz CPU, 2GB memory, 2.5GbE networking and RAID 1 redundancy out of the box
Capacity 8TB (2 x 4TB)
The LinkStation SoHo 720 is a two-bay desktop NAS that ships with two 4 TB hard drives pre-installed in a RAID 1 array, giving 4 TB of usable, redundant storage. A hexa-core 1.3 GHz processor and 2 GB of memory handle backups, media streaming and file sharing for workgroups that want a subscription-free private cloud. The closed firmware limits third-party attack surface while SSL encryption protects data in transit.
One RJ-45 port running at up to 2.5 GbE is the only wired network interface, so aggregate throughput cannot exceed that link speed. Buyers whose workflows demand 10 GbE aggregation, link failover or multi-gigabit switching will need a different platform.
The front and rear USB sockets accept external drives or a UPS for direct backup jobs and safe shutdown without involving the network. No PCIe slot or M.2 connector is present, so cache acceleration or additional network cards cannot be added later.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The two 4TB drives are configured in RAID 1, giving 4TB of usable space with full mirroring for redundancy.
The single 2.5GbE RJ-45 port supports up to 2.5 Gbps, limited by the IEEE 802.3bz standard and your switch or router capabilities.
The unit has two 3.5-inch SATA bays; the included 4TB drives occupy both slots, so expansion requires replacing one or both drives.
