Dual Xeon 10-core 2U server

The Dell PowerEdge R530 fits two Intel Xeon E5-2650 V3 processors, each with ten cores at 2.3 GHz, into a 2U rack chassis. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across twelve DIMM slots, six per processor. This configuration targets organisations that need dense compute for virtualisation, database or batch workloads in a standard rack footprint.

Hot-plug bays and redundant power

Eight 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives, allowing storage changes without shutting down the system. Two 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy so a single supply failure does not interrupt operation. The H330 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the installed 300 GB 15 K SAS drives. A DVD-ROM drive and Matrox G200eR2 video are also present.

iDRAC8 remote management and expansion

The integrated iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller gives out-of-band console access, firmware updates and hardware monitoring from any networked browser. Five PCIe slots — three at version 3.0 and two at 2.0 — are available for additional network cards, storage controllers or accelerators. Four 1 GbE ports on a daughter card handle baseline connectivity. No operating system is included, so the buyer supplies their own licences and installation media.
