The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built for dense compute environments. Dual Intel Xeon E5-2603v3 processors provide twelve cores at 1.6GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and three 300GB 15K SAS drives ship installed. A Perc H730 RAID controller manages storage across up to eight hot-plug bays.
Two six-core Xeon E5-2603v3 CPUs define the processing ceiling for this configuration. The C610 chipset supports a second processor if only one were populated, but both sockets are already filled. Memory runs at up to 2400MT/s depending on processor capability across twelve DIMM slots. Maximum supported capacity reaches 384GB when fully populated.
One hot-swap 550W power supply delivers redundancy in a 1U chassis weighing 43 lbs. Four 1GbE ports handle network traffic while iDRAC8 provides remote management. Two PCIe 3.0 slots remain available for expansion cards. A DVD-ROM drive and Matrox G200eR2 video complete the front and rear I/O.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
The two six-core Xeon processors run at a base 1.6 GHz, providing 12 total threads for multi-threaded tasks such as virtualization hosts, database services or file servers.
The controller supports 12 Gbps SAS, but the three installed 300 GB 15K drives operate at 6 Gbps, so the array runs at the drives' native speed.
The chassis is 1.68 inches high, 26.7 inches deep and 18.99 inches wide; a rail kit is included for square-hole rack mounting.
