The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built for dense compute environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory across twelve DIMM slots. Eight 300 GB 15K SAS drives connect through a PERC H330 RAID controller supporting levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. A redundant 550 W power supply and iDRAC8 remote management come standard.

This server fits workloads that benefit from high core counts and fast SAS storage in a single rack unit, such as virtualisation clusters or database nodes. The installed memory tops out at 16 GB and the board only accepts DDR4, so buyers who want larger memory footprints or different memory generations should look elsewhere. Only one CPU is fitted from a possible two, and the two PCIe 3.0 slots limit add-in card expansion.
