The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a dual-socket 1U rack server built for dense scale-out data centre computing. Two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors run at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 registered ECC memory populate four of twenty-four available slots. The platform supports up to two processors and three terabytes of memory.

Suited for virtualisation and database workloads

This configuration suits teams running virtualised workloads, database clusters or high-performance compute tasks that benefit from twenty-four cores per socket and fast networking. The quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links.
