The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors, each running at 3.0 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 16 GB modules. The platform targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and dense data analytics workloads that need high core counts in a compact form factor.

Front 2.5-inch bays, PERC H745 and quad 1 GbE OCP

Eight hot-swap 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with 1.92 TB SATA 6 Gb/s enterprise SSDs behind a Dell PERC H745 RAID controller equipped with 4 GB of non-volatile cache and a battery backup unit. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network adapter provides four RJ-45 links, while iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables full remote management. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for standard rack mounting.

Dual 1400 W platinum supplies and 1U thermal design

Two hot-swap 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant power for continuous operation. The 1U chassis uses Dell 15G thermal engineering to cool both CPUs, memory, storage and the RAID controller within a single rack unit. Fan speeds adjust dynamically to workload, keeping acoustic output appropriate for data centre aisles while maintaining component temperatures under sustained load.
