Compact 1U Server for Dense Workloads

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for data centres that need high compute density in minimal space. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4310 processors, each offering 12 cores at 2.1 GHz with a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 512 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 DIMM slots. This configuration targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and dense analytics workloads.

Front-Access Storage and Redundant Power

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays sit at the front, populated with 960 GB SATA SSDs connected to a PERC H745 RAID controller with 4 GB non-volatile cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for flexible data protection. Two hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies provide full redundancy. A quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network card and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are included, along with ready rails and a front bezel.

Memory Ceiling Decides Fit

The platform supports a maximum of 1 TB of DDR4 memory, so the installed 512 GB leaves headroom for future expansion within the 16 available slots. Buyers whose workloads will exceed the 1 TB limit cannot meet that need with this server. The LGA 4189 socket and dual-processor design are fixed, so the CPU configuration cannot be changed after purchase.
