Space-efficient 1U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs packs two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors at 2.3GHz with 3.4GHz turbo into a single rack unit. Each CPU delivers 20 cores for a total of 40 threads across the platform. With 512GB of DDR4 2666MHz registered ECC memory installed, the system targets virtualization, cloud infrastructure and dense data analytics workloads. The PERC H745 controller with 4GB NV cache manages up to eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60.

Dual 1400W platinum supplies

Redundant hot-swap power supplies rated at 1400 watts each provide platinum-level efficiency under typical loads. The 1U chassis uses forced-air cooling designed for data-center aisle containment, so acoustic output is tuned for raised-floor environments rather than office desks. Power draw scales with processor utilisation and drive count; the second supply takes over instantly if the first fails. No liquid-cooling loops or external chillers are required.

Quad-port 1GbE OCP card and iDRAC9 Enterprise

A Broadcom 5720 OCP 3.0 adapter adds four 1GbE ports for management or workload traffic without consuming a PCIe slot. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote console, power control, firmware updates and hardware health monitoring over a dedicated network interface. ReadyRails sliding rails and a front bezel ship in the box for tool-less rack mounting. The platform supports optional GPU acceleration and NVMe drives for AI or high-IOPS tasks not covered by the base configuration.
