DELL
A 2U rack server with a single 1.9GHz six-core Xeon, 128GB DDR4, two 300GB 15K SAS drives and an H730 RAID controller
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mounted server system designed for datacentre workloads that need dense compute and storage in a standard rack footprint. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz and 128GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots. The chassis supports up to two processors and includes dual 750W redundant hot-swap power supplies for continuous operation.
The server provides eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays that accept SAS or SATA drives, connected through a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1GB cache and 12Gbps throughput. Supported RAID levels include 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, with a maximum raw capacity of 64TB. Current configuration includes two 300GB 15K SAS drives and a DVD-ROM optical drive; additional drives and trays can be added as needed.
Only one Xeon E5-2609 v3 processor is fitted, leaving the second CPU socket available for a matching processor upgrade to double core count and memory channels. The board uses the Intel C610 chipset and offers up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot. Networking defaults to a four-port 1GbE daughter card with optional 10GbE upgrades, while remote management runs on iDRAC8 Express with Enterprise upgrade paths.

The server ships with one E5-2609 v3 six-core 1.9GHz CPU and supports a maximum of two processors; adding the second doubles core count and enables the second set of twelve DIMM slots.
128GB DDR4 fills twelve of twenty-four slots at up to 2400MT/s, leaving twelve slots free; the platform maximum is 1536GB when both processors are populated.
The H730 provides 12Gbps SAS connectivity to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60; 15K 6Gbps SAS drives will run at their native 6Gbps link speed.
