Dell PowerEdge R740 2U dual-socket server

The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation clusters and database workloads. It ships with two Intel Gold 6126 processors, each delivering 12 cores at 2.6 GHz with 19.25 MB cache. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory populate four DIMM slots. Six 480 GB SATA SSDs sit behind an H730P RAID controller.

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays with six populated

The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch bays and six are filled with 480 GB SATA SSDs. Two bays remain open for future expansion. The H730P controller manages the array and supports additional drives when capacity needs grow. No optical drive is fitted.

Redundant 1100 W power supplies

Dual 1100 W redundant supplies share load and sustain uptime during a module failure. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides remote console, power control and hardware monitoring over the network. The Intel X550 adapter adds two 10 Gb RJ45 and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports. Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots are available for extra I/O cards.
