The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Silver 4210R processors. Each CPU delivers 10 cores at 2.4 GHz with 13.75 MB cache. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as four 16 GB PC4-2666 modules. Eight 1.2 TB 10K SAS drives connect through an H730P RAID controller. Remote management uses iDRAC9 Enterprise.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your rack provides a 2U opening and supports the included rails. Confirm the power infrastructure can supply two 1100 W redundant supplies. Network uplinks require ports for the Intel X550 dual 10 Gb RJ45 and dual 1 Gb RJ45 interfaces. Expansion plans should account for up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots. No optical drive bay is present.
