The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built for virtualised workloads and database applications. Dual Intel Silver 4210R processors deliver 20 cores at 2.4GHz with 13.75M cache each. 64GB of DDR4 memory across four 16GB modules supports dense VM deployments. Eight 120GB SATA SSDs on an H730P RAID controller provide redundant boot and cache storage.

Upgrade From Single-Socket or Smaller Drive Counts

This system replaces single-socket towers or 1U servers limited to four drive bays. The jump is worth it when workloads demand more PCIe Gen 3 slots for GPUs or NICs, or when redundant 1100W power supplies are required for uptime. iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management removes the need for a separate KVM or crash cart in lights-out environments.

Fits Standard Racks With Room For Expansion

The 2U chassis occupies minimal rack height while exposing up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots for additional controllers or accelerators. Integrated Intel X550 networking delivers two 10Gb RJ45 and two 1Gb RJ45 ports without consuming a slot. Rails, bezel and power cords are included so the server mounts immediately in standard four-post racks.
