The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 fits twenty-six 3.5-inch drive trays into a 2U rackmount chassis. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6154 processors provide eighteen cores each at 3.0GHz with 3.7GHz turbo for data-intensive workloads. One hundred twenty-eight gigabytes of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory supports reliable operation across sixteen slots. The platform targets software-defined storage, backup repositories and media archives.

Dual 1100W platinum supplies

Two 1100 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies deliver redundant hot-swap power for continuous availability. The 2U form factor concentrates compute and storage density while sharing cooling infrastructure across both processors and the full drive bay population. Integrated iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote thermal monitoring and power management without physical access. Front bezel and ready rails are not included in this configuration.

HBA330 controller plus dual-port 10/25Gb mezzanine

A Dell PERC HBA330 mini controller provides twelve-gigabit SAS and SATA connectivity across the twenty-six drive trays without RAID overhead. One integrated dual-port 1GbE LOM handles baseline management traffic. One Broadcom 57414 dual-port 10/25Gb SFP28 OCP 2.0 mezzanine card adds high-speed fabric connectivity for storage clustering. Buyers who need hardware RAID or additional PCIe expansion cards must source those separately.
