The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rackmount server built for storage-heavy workloads such as software-defined storage, big data analytics and backup repositories. It ships with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency and 24 cores. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across 16 slots, expandable to 1 TB. A Dell PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.
