Server identity

The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server built for enterprise workloads that demand high core counts and large memory capacity. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors running at 2.4 GHz with 16 cores each and 1 TB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory. The system includes a PERC H755 RAID controller with 8 GB NV cache, twelve 3.5-inch drive trays, a quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network card, iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management, dual 1400 W platinum power supplies, rails and a front bezel.

Installation notes

The server arrives with processors, memory, controller, networking and power supplies already installed, so rack mounting with the included rails is the main physical step. Drive trays slide into the front bays without tools, and the OCP 3.0 network card occupies a dedicated slot leaving standard PCIe slots free. Cable routing for twelve 3.5-inch drives can become congested; plan SAS or SATA cable paths before populating all bays. The iDRAC9 Enterprise module enables full out-of-band setup before the operating system loads.

Interface limits

The platform uses PCIe Gen4 for internal expansion, doubling bandwidth over the prior generation for faster storage and accelerator cards. Memory runs at 2666 MT/s in this configuration although the chipset supports up to 3200 MT/s with different DIMMs. The twelve 3.5-inch bays accept SATA or SAS drives; NVMe drives require a different backplane not included here. Network connectivity is limited to four 1 GbE ports on the OCP 3.0 card unless additional adapters are added.
