Tower server for small-business workloads

The Dell PowerEdge T340 tower server ships new with Windows Server 2019 Standard and five CALs. An Intel Xeon E-2124 quad-core processor runs at 3.3 GHz with turbo up to 4.3 GHz. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 memory in four 16 GB modules support multitasking. Eight terabytes of storage come from four 2 TB SATA hard drives in a RAID array managed by the integrated PERC S140 controller.

Check power, rack space and expansion needs

The chassis uses a single cabled power supply, so confirm your outlet and UPS capacity before ordering. Four 3.5-inch hot-plug bays are populated with the included drives, leaving no empty bays for additional 3.5-inch disks without removing existing ones. The motherboard provides a dual-port 1 Gb onboard NIC and an iDRAC9 Express card for remote management. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted as standard.

Hot-plug drives and tower chassis for desk-side use

Four 3.5-inch drives mount in hot-plug carriers, allowing replacement without powering down the server. The tower form factor sits on a desk or shelf and does not require rack rails. Unbuffered DDR4 memory at 2666 MHz fills four slots, so future upgrades would need higher-capacity modules. The single power supply means no redundancy if that unit fails.
