Enterprise tower server for virtualization

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting, file storage and backup workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, each running at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency and twelve cores. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory populate four of the sixteen available slots, leaving room to grow to the platform maximum of 1 TB.

Sustained multi-core throughput

Under continuous load the dual twelve-core CPUs maintain elevated frequencies across all twenty-four threads, delivering steady compute for hypervisors such as VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox VE. The PERC H730P controller provides 2 GB of cache and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through, keeping storage latency predictable during prolonged database or SDS operations. Eight 2.5-inch hot-swap trays are included for the sixteen-bay chassis.

Redundant platinum power keeps thermals stable

Two 750-watt platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in redundant hot-swap mode, so a single unit failure does not interrupt service. The power rating and efficiency target limit waste heat, allowing the chassis fans to run at lower speeds during typical virtualization and file-server workloads. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express remote management handle monitoring without adding significant thermal load.
