This Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with a 3.0GHz turbo frequency and twelve cores. The system includes 128GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 32GB modules and a Dell PERC H330 12Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller. Eight 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays and dual 750W platinum power supplies complete the chassis.

Suited to Consolidation Buyers.

The dual-processor configuration and large memory capacity suit organisations consolidating virtual machines, hosting databases, or running file and backup services on VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Windows Server or Linux. Buyers needing the full complement of sixteen drive bays populated at once should look elsewhere, as only eight trays are included. The tower-form-factor design also makes it less convenient for rack rows that require uniform slide-rail mounting without a separate conversion kit.

Storage Controller Determines Drive Compatibility

The PERC H330 controller provides 12Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity for the eight installed 2.5-inch trays, defining which drives can be used immediately. Additional trays and a rack conversion kit are not included, so expansion beyond the eight bays requires separate purchases.
