The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server configured with two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, each running at 2.3 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory is installed across two modules. It targets organisations running VMware ESXi, Hyper-V or Proxmox VE clusters, Microsoft SQL Server instances, or software-defined storage platforms that need strong multi-threaded performance and enterprise reliability.

Fits a 5U rack or tower space with room to grow

The chassis provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays supporting SAS and SATA drives; four 1.92 TB enterprise SSDs are already populated behind a PERC H730P 2 GB controller with battery-backed cache enabling RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. Fourteen drive bays and fourteen DDR4 slots remain free for capacity expansion. Dual 1 GbE ports and iDRAC 9 Express give immediate network and remote-management connectivity, while PCI Express slots accept additional RAID, networking or GPU cards.

Dual 750 W platinum supplies share the load

Redundant hot-plug power supplies operate at platinum efficiency, reducing waste heat and allowing one unit to fail without downtime. The 5U form factor accommodates larger heatsinks and lower-RPM fans, so acoustic output stays manageable in office-adjacent server rooms. Power draw scales with CPU utilisation and drive count, but the dual-supply design keeps headroom for full-population configurations.
