It is designed specifically for continuous video recording in CCTV DVR and surveillance systems. The firmware is optimised for sustained sequential write workloads typical of security cameras. It is not intended for general-purpose desktop storage or high-random-access workloads.

CoolSpin technology balances motor speed to reduce power consumption, heat output and acoustic noise during round-the-clock use. The drive draws 29 percent less power than conventional designs, helping keep enclosure temperatures lower in multi-bay DVR units.
