The HP ProBook 450 G3 is a 15.6 inch laptop built around an Intel Core i5-6200U processor running at 2.3 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB SATA SSD for storage. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses LED backlighting and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed, making it ready for office environments.

Sustained load on dual-core Skylake

Under continuous workloads the dual-core Skylake chip operates within a 15 W envelope, so clock speeds will settle below the 2.3 GHz base once the thermal limit is reached. The integrated HD Graphics 520 shares system memory, leaving less bandwidth for compute tasks during long render or encode sessions. Fan noise becomes noticeable as the single heat pipe manages both CPU and GPU heat. Battery life drops sharply when all four threads are fully utilised.

Straightforward setup with a few caveats

The package includes the laptop, charger and battery, so first boot only requires plugging in and following the Windows 10 Pro out-of-box experience. Driver updates for the Intel HD Graphics 520 and 802.11 wireless should be applied before deploying to a managed network. The DVD-RW tray adds thickness and can fail to eject after years of disuse. One HDMI and one VGA port handle external displays, but there is no USB-C video output.
