HP
A 1U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 processors, 64 GB DDR4 memory and eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays
The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 fits into a single rack unit and ships with two Xeon E5-2630 v3 processors running at 2.4 GHz. It targets workloads that need up to 36 total cores across dual sockets, such as virtualisation hosts, cloud nodes or general-purpose compute clusters. The 16 DIMM slots are fully populated with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory, leaving no empty slots for further expansion.
The installed 64 GB uses all 16 slots at 2400 MT/s, reaching the maximum supported by the fitted processors. The chipset can address up to 1 TB when larger modules and compatible CPUs are used, but the current configuration offers no headroom without replacing both memory and processors. Eight 2.5-inch drive bays accept SATA or SAS media, while the B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1 and 5 for SATA devices only.
The B140i controller restricts RAID functionality to SATA drives, so SAS disks operate in JBOD mode without hardware redundancy. A 550 W redundant hot-swap power supply supports the dual-processor load and the eight-bay backplane. Integrated Matrox G200 graphics with 16 MB video memory handles basic console output, and no operating system is included.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Yes, the server has 16 DIMM slots supporting DDR4 ECC registered memory up to 2400MT/s; actual speed depends on the installed processor capability.
Enter the UEFI/BIOS setup or the B140i option ROM during boot to confirm the controller detects each SATA drive and shows the configured RAID 0, 1, or 5 volume as healthy.
Two SFF drive trays with screws are included; no drives, additional trays, or a universal media bay are supplied, so SATA SSDs or HDDs must be purchased separately.
