The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a dual-socket platform into a single rack unit, supplying 16 physical cores and 32 threads from two Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors at 2.6 GHz. Ninety-six gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory fill half the 24 DIMM slots, leaving room for expansion. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives across eight 2.5-inch bays. No operating system is included.

Sustained multi-threaded throughput

With both CPUs active the server maintains its 2.6 GHz base clock across all 16 cores, allowing steady performance for database, virtualisation or high-performance computing workloads that run for hours. Hyper-threading doubles the logical thread count to 32, improving scheduler efficiency under heavy concurrent demand. Memory bandwidth scales with the two memory controllers, each feeding 12 slots at up to 2400 MT/s depending on processor capability. The C610 chipset links I/O without creating a bottleneck for the installed configuration.

Redundant power and basic graphics

Dual 500 W hot-swap supplies share the load and keep the system running if one unit fails, while fan speeds adjust to the thermal profile of the 1U chassis. The Matrox G200 controller with 16 MB video memory handles console output only, leaving all PCIe lanes free for storage or networking cards. Power draw scales with actual CPU utilisation rather than peaking at the supply rating. Acoustic output remains within typical data-centre limits for a 1U form factor.
