1U rack server for dense compute

The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 occupies a single rack unit and ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 processor providing twelve cores at 2.3 GHz. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the 24 DIMM slots. Two 146 GB 15K 6 Gbps 2.5-inch SAS drives and an H240ar controller handle storage. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies deliver redundancy.

H240ar controller and 15K SAS drives

The Smart HBA H240ar supports 12 Gbps SAS and 6 Gbps SATA with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, letting the two 15 000 rpm drives operate in mirrored or striped arrays for throughput or redundancy. Eight small-form-factor bays remain available for expansion with additional SAS or SATA media. No operating system is included, so the administrator chooses the hypervisor or OS.

Single CPU and 32 GB memory ceiling

With one processor fitted the server uses twelve of the twenty-four DIMM slots and cannot exceed 32 GB total memory. Adding a second Xeon E5 v3 would unlock the remaining slots and raise the platform limit to 3 TB, but that requires a separate processor kit. The Matrox G200 graphics provides only basic management console output, not compute acceleration.
